Foql Impersonation and Likeness Policy

Foql exists so people can license their own likeness on their own terms. This policy sets the rules, what we do to enforce them, and the limits of our responsibility.

1. The rule

You may only create, list, or license a likeness that is yours. Specifically, you may not:

upload reference images of anyone other than yourself, or of yourself altered to resemble someone else;
create or request content depicting a real person who is not a verified creator on Foql — including public figures, athletes, models, influencers, or private individuals;
create or request content designed to resemble an identifiable real person ("lookalikes"), even using a verified creator, by styling, prompts, captions, or context;
use another person's identity documents, social accounts, or devices to pass verification;
use a creator's licensed content to imply that the creator personally uses, endorses, or has a relationship with a product beyond what the license permits, or in prohibited categories;
alter, re-edit, deepfake, voice, or re-purpose licensed content beyond what the license allows.

2. How we prevent it

Identity verification (government ID plus live selfie) and an over-18 check; a face-match between the verified selfie and the reference kit; social-account binding; periodic re-verification; prohibited-content filters at generation; watermarked previews; provenance (C2PA) credentials on licensed assets; a public license verification page; a creator ledger of every use; and human review of reports.

These measures reduce but do not eliminate misuse. Foql does not guarantee that every account, image, or output is what it claims to be.

3. Reporting and takedown

Anyone — creators, brands, or third parties — can report suspected impersonation, unauthorized use of a likeness, or content outside a license's scope:

In-app: Ledger → clip → Report (creators); Asset → Report (brands).
Email: abuse@foql.com with the URL or license ID, a description, and, if you are the person depicted, proof of identity.

What happens: within [1 business day] we suspend the relevant preview, asset, or license pending review; where a connected store is involved we unpublish; we notify the parties; we review and decide within [7 days]. If a violation is confirmed, we remove the content, revoke affected licenses (brands are not refunded for misuse they caused), and may terminate accounts. Repeat or serious violations result in permanent bans and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement. We honor valid legal process and DMCA notices sent to our designated agent: [AGENT NAME, ADDRESS, EMAIL].

Good-faith reports are never penalized. Knowingly false reports may result in account action.

4. Responsibility and liability

Users are responsible. Each user is solely responsible for the images they upload, the content they generate or license, and the uses they make of it, and must comply with publicity, privacy, advertising, and platform rules.
Use at your own risk. Foql provides tools and a marketplace. Except where the law does not allow it, Foql is not liable for impersonation, unauthorized use, or misuse of a likeness by any user, or for third-party content, and provides no warranty that content is accurate, authorized, or free of claims.
Indemnity. Users indemnify Foql for claims arising from their violations of this policy, as set out in the Terms of Service.
Our commitment. We will act promptly on reports, maintain the safeguards above, cooperate with the people depicted, and continuously improve detection. These commitments are the extent of our responsibility; they are not a guarantee of outcomes.

5. Limits that protect creators

Foql will never license, sell, or permit use of a creator's likeness outside the scope the creator consented to, and never uses reference images to train models. If Foql itself makes an error that results in use outside scope, we will remove the content, notify the creator, and compensate the creator at least the license value of the affected use.
